For more than 25 years, the Havana Film Festival New York (HFFNY) has celebrated the richness, diversity, and innovation of Latin American and Latino cinema in the U.S. As part of its 26th edition, the festival presents a special program: Cinema of Belonging - The Jewish Stories from Latin America and Latinos in the U.S
Jewish communities have played a significant role in the social and cultural fabric of Latin America and Latinos in the U.S. for generations. Their experiences—marked by exile, adaptation, creativity, and belonging—have produced powerful narratives that resonate across cultures and borders. This showcase explores the voices, histories, and creative visions of Jewish storytellers across Latin America and Latino Jewish communities in the U.S. Through a selection of feature films, documentaries, and short films, the program highlights stories shaped by migration, memory, resilience, and cultural fusion. Cinema has become one of the most meaningful mediums for preserving these stories and sharing them with new audiences.
Short and feature films by Jewish Latino filmmakers that explore identity, intergenerational memory, and the complexities of belonging across continents.
