VIRGINIA Y ADELAIDE

Virgínia was the first psychoanalyst graduated in Brazil and one of the first black university professors. Adelheid, a Jewish psychoanalyst fleeing Nazi Germany, sought refuge in Brazil. They met in São Paulo in 1937 as patient and analyst. Together, they revolutionized the field of psychoanalysis and, in Virgínia’s case, the study of racism, paving the way for future generations.
