Teresita’s Dream follows Cuban scientist Teresita Rodríguez as she embarks on a deeply personal journey to find a treatment for her mother’s Alzheimer’s—alongside a team of women scientists. Set in Havana, the film explores innovation, resilience, and the challenges of advancing science under political constraints, offering a powerful reflection on hope and global health.

El sueño de Teresita sigue a la científica cubana Teresita Rodríguez en su búsqueda de un tratamiento para el Alzheimer de su madre, junto a un equipo de mujeres científicas. Ambientada en La Habana, la película explora la innovación, la resiliencia y los desafíos de hacer ciencia en un contexto político complejo, ofreciendo una reflexión sobre la esperanza y la salud global.

About the Director

Daniel Montero

Daniel Montero

Daniel Montero is a journalist, producer, and filmmaker with U.S.-based media outlet Belly of the Beast. He graduated from the University of Havana’s Communication School in 2020 with a degree in Journalism. Daniel is a co-winner of a One World Media Award and a Telly Award for his work on the documentary series The War on Cuba. Daniel has been interviewed on Democracy Now! and his reporting has been published internationally, including in The Guardian. He has directed three documentary films: Little League Dreams (2023), available for streaming on Belly of the Beast’s YouTube channel, as well as Teresita's Dream (2025) and Heroes or Slaves: Cuban Doctors in Italy (2026), both forthcoming
