ADIOS AL AMIGO

After a thousand days of civil war in Colombia in 1902, the revolutionary soldier Alfredo Duarte Amado receives a telegram with the news of the pregnancy of his brother Rodrigo’s wife. Without knowing where to go, he convinces an amateur photographer in the bowels of the Chicamocha canyon to go with him searching for his brother lost in the war, but the photographer is also looking for someone – the man who killed his father.

Después de mil días de guerra civil en Colombia en 1902, el soldado revolucionario Alfredo Duarte Amado recibe un telegrama con la noticia del embarazo de la esposa de su hermano. Sabiendo que la guerra ya ha acabado, convence a un fotógrafo para que se acompañen en busca de su hermano, pero el fotógrafo busca también al hombre que mató a su padre.

Iván Gaona is a Colombian filmmaker whose work explores memory, territory, and rural life, often rooted in the social and historical realities of his country. Through a visually attentive and humanistic approach, he crafts intimate stories that reflect on violence, community, and the fragile bonds that shape identity. Iván Gaona es un cineasta colombiano cuya obra explora la memoria, el territorio y la vida rural, profundamente arraigada en las realidades sociales e históricas de su país. A través de una mirada humanista y un cuidado trabajo visual, construye relatos íntimos que reflexionan sobre la violencia, la comunidad y los vínculos que configuran la identidad.
