In Two Maÿas we tell the love story between two women. We are in two moments: the present and the future as if we could predict what would happen. We offer the beginning and the end all in once, leaving the endless time to be the grand vision of this story.

En Dos Maÿas, contamos la historia de amor entre dos mujeres, planteamos dos momentos: el pasado y el presente, -o puede ser el presente y el futuro, casi como una premonición de lo que puede suceder. Damos el inicio y el final de la relación en un mismo momento, dejando que los dos tiempos se entretejan y nos brinden una hipervisión de esta historia.

GISELA SANDERS ALCANTARA

Having started her career as a ballerina, she then found her way into the audiovisual and cinematic worlds by pursuing a degree in Communications. Combining her two passions, she began to develop video-dance pieces and to direct Al Borde del Cuerpo, Un encuentro con los creadores de la danza, the television program on choreographers. She then pursued a Master's Degree in Cinema at CUNY. Her documentary thesis Yo Soy Alcántara has been shown at various festivals around the world and in museums throughout the United States, Colombia, Cuba, Spain and Mexico. Currently she is working as well in a new project teaching Bushwick youth media literacy and filmmaking.

Empieza su carrera como bailarina, posteriormente estudia la licenciatura en Comunicación Social lo cual la acerca a su carrera dentro del audiovisual y el cine. Vincula sus dos pasiones y empieza a trabajar en piezas de video-danza y dirige Al Borde del Cuerpo, Un encuentro con los creadores de la danza, serie de televisión sobre coreógrafos. Hizo su maestría en cine en CUNY; Su tésis documental, Yo Soy Alcántara, ha sido mostrada en varios festivales y museos en Estados Unidos, España y México. Actualmente trabaja en un Nuevo proyecto enseñado cine y video en Bushwick a jóvenes inmigrantes.
