On December 19, 2001, in Buenos Aires, after President Fernando De La Rúa declared a state of siege, people, very upset, took over the streets marching to Plaza de Mayo. During those agitated days, people from Colegiales neighborhood, as well as from other neighborhoods of the city of Buenos Aires, began holding spontaneous meetings on the streets. Anibal, an unemployed mechanic hosts the assembly in his home to resist eviction, but after a few weeks of living together, the relationships among the assembly members become strained.

El 19 de Diciembre del 2001, en Buenos Aires, después de que el presidente Fernando De La Rúa declaró estado de sitio, el pueblo, tremendamente disgustado, tomó las calles marchando hacia la Plaza de Mayo. Durante esos agitados días, personas del barrio Colegiales, junto a personas de otros vecindarios de la ciudad de Buenos Aires, comenzaron a tener reuniones espontáneas en las calles. Aníbal, un mecánico desempleado, presidió una asamblea en su casa para evitar la evicción, pero después de varias semanas viviendo juntos, la relación entre los miembros de la asamblea se volvió tensa.

GUSTAVO LASKIER

GUSTAVO LASKIER studied filmmaking at the Vicente López Contemporary Film School. He has worked for several fiction and documentary short films. As a cameraman, he took part in the award-winning documentary Oscar, directed by Sergio Morkin, as well as in several television programs. He directed documentary short films, such as Entrelíneas (First Prize, Olavarria 2005; Mention La Sudestada, Paris 2005; Lyon, 2005), and En la Esquina (2006). At present, he is directing his second feature film called “Distancias”, which portrays the life of a Belarusian communist immigrant who comes to Argentina during the first coup in 1930.

Estudió cine en la Escuela de cine contemporáneo Vicente López. Ha trabajado en muchos cortos documentales y de ficción. Como camarógrafo fue parte del aclamado documental de Sergio Morkin, Oscar, al igual que otros programas de television. Dirigió los cortos Entrelíneas (First Prize, Olavarria; Mention La Sudestada, Paris; Lyon, 2005), and En la Esquina (2006). Actualmente filma el documental de un inmigrante comunista bieloruso que llega a Argentina en el primer golpe de 1930.
