Tomas Gutierrez Alea is Cuba’s greatest and best-known director. He wrote and directed more than 20 features, documentaries, and short films, which are known for his sharp insight into post-Revolutionary Cuba.  His filmography includes classics like: Las doce sillas (1962), Memories of Underdevelopment (1968),   La muerte de un burócrata (1966), Los sobrevivientes (1979), Strawberry and Chocolate (1993) and Guantanamera (1995).
