Outreach Coordinator

Reports to:

Festival Manager

Status (Volunteer, Intern, Paid full-time or part-time):

Term (start and end date):

January – April 2014

Responsibilities:


•Partner with organizations, schools, and other groups to increase festival attendance
•Update database with appropriate contact information for all such groups
•Increase number of target/partner organizations as possible
•Approach groups with targeted information about festival programming (country,interest, or age specific films)
•Organize discounts for groups as appropriate
•Collaborate with social media intern to use social media to maintain and increase festival visibility, as well as strengthening relations with partner organizations:

    Promote HFFNY events
    Post regularly on other related topics/events of interest
    Promote/re-post events from partner organizations and directors

•Collaborate with other HFFNY staff to promote under-sold events

Skills required:

•Familiarity with social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, MeetUp etc.)
•Spanish and English fluency highly desirable
•Previous experience promoting an international event to a diverse audience highly desirable
•Comfort approaching groups
•Professional manner and appearance
•Familiarity with New York community and cultural groups highly desirable


Social Media Intern HFFNY

Reports to:

Festival Manager

Status (Volunteer, Intern, Paid full-time or part-time):

January – April 2014

Responsibilities:


•Collaborate with HFFNY/AFLFC staff to promote all events
•Following HFFNY guidelines, update festival content on all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) regularly
•Following directions from Festival Manager and Outreach Coordinator, create email newsletters in existing format
•Update email database regularly
•Increase subscriber base in all media as possible

Skills required:


•Experience managing social media communities, including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
•Excellent writing and communication skills
•Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
•Ability to work under a deadline
•Ability to work independently
•Spanish language ability desirable


Management Intern HFFNY

Reports to:

Festival Manager

Status (Volunteer, Intern, Paid full-time or part-time):

Intern

Term (start and end date):

January – April 2014

Responsibilities:


•Assist in sending out mailings and fundraising letters
•Assist Programming staff sending out correspondence to film companies/directors
•Help Outreach Coordinator contacting local organizations, community centers, colleges and high schools
•Create and check screening copies of DVDs
•Assist all HFFNY and AFLFC staff as needed
•Should be available for events on occasional evenings and weekends

Skills required:


•Good writing and communication skills
•Ability to work under a deadline
•Ability to work independently
•Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
•Spanish language ability desirable
