Synopsis

Orfa is an elderly woman who lives alone in her home village. One day she receives a package from her only son who she hasn’t seen in a long time. Inside are a cell phone and a letter in which her son writes that he can’t visit her and she’ll have to survive renting the phone for profit. Orfa resigns herself to wait for death, convinced that it will come knocking on her door. At the same time, her phone minutes run out, loosing her last chance for company.

Director's Bio

Frank Benitez graduated from the Escuela de Cine de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia in 2005. He worked as a director in TV and film production companies. He also wrote various independent shorts since 2002 such as: Imaginario (2003), Xpectattiva (Winner of In Vitro Visual, 2005) and Hierbas del ayer (2008). Currently he is professor of audiovisual production in the Universidad Externado de Colombia and also he is developing his first fiction feature-length film Pasado por agua.
