Javier is a young actor with an affinity for writing. When he begins his love story with Luisita, a young woman entrapped by a world full of secrets, he does not know where the truth begins and ends or how to separate fantasy from reality. Fifteen years later he has converted his love stories into literature, a story that relates his tragic love story with Luisita in a creative, fantastic and symbolic way.
Fernando Pérez graduated from the Universidad de la Habana with a degree in Language and Spanish Literature. He began working in the Cuban film industry in 1971 as an assistant director, before directing his first documentary in 1975.
His feature debut was the drama Clandestinos (1987) but it was not until Madagascar (1994) that he garnered significant international recognition. Fernando Pérez later directed La vida es silbar (1998), Suite Habana (2003), considered by some critics to be the best Cuban film in decades and Madrigal.
