Volunteer

The 11th Havana Film Festival New York is looking for volunteers to work in a variety of positions before and during the festival, which will take place April 15-24. The weeklong program of events includes film screenings, numerous premieres, panels moderated by industry leaders, a gala opening event, etc. The festival is celebrated at various venues throughout the city.

Traffic and Hospitality – 1-2 volunteers needed to assist the Traffic Coordinator with travel arrangements for all national and international guests. Volunteers will also assist in the distribution of films for screenings at all venues. They will have the opportunity to work “behind the scenes”, helping to insure that all production and technical aspects of the screenings run smoothly

Translators/Guides – we will need bilingual guides (Spanish/English) throughout the festival for our international directors, filmmakers, and other special guests. Translators have the opportunity to interact with international filmmakers while providing translation for various events including panels and Q&A sessions, among other things. Translators will act as guides for the directors in NYC, ensuring safe and timely arrival to events and other commitments. Must be completely fluent in both languages, and posses a strong knowledge of the NYC area

Ushers for Quad Cinema – we need 2 head ushers for this venue. Ushers will coordinate the distribution of festival print materials to our patrons, including the festival catalogue, and seating for all films during their time slot. Must be friendly, outgoing, and punctual. Bilingual in Spanish/English desired, but not required. Ushers needed for: 12-5pm; April 17-23 and 5-11pm; April 17-23

Ushers for all other venues – we need at least 2 ushers per venue at all times during events and screenings. Ushers will greet patrons and guests, distribute the festival catalogue and other handouts, help manage Will Call passes, and provide overall customer service. Must be friendly, outgoing, punctual, and able to multi-task. Bilingual is preferred, but not required

Time Commitment: The above opportunities require volunteers that will be readily available beginning April 13-24, and can volunteer a minimum of 2 days during the festival. Volunteers should be punctual, reliable, and flexible in terms of responsibilities assigned to them.

Internships

HFFNY has developed exciting and rewarding internships on an individual basis with students from various universities and colleges throughout New York City, including Hunter College, NYU, and NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. HFFNY is working to establish an internship program that will further our mission to enrich and expand the vision of Latino culture and provide a multi-cultural experience for a our interns, be it through planning and development of the festival, marketing and community outreach, and any other elements that play a key role in the festival’s success.

Sea Voluntario

El 11º Havana Film Festival New York está buscando voluntarios para trabajar en diferentes cargos antes y durante el festival que tendrá lugar desde el 15 al 24 de abril de 2010. El programa de una semana de eventos incluye proyecciones de películas, numerosos estrenos, paneles moderados por líderes de la industria, un evento de gala de apertura y actividades relacionadas. El festival se desarrollará en varios lugares de la ciudad.

Tráfico y Hospitalidad – Se necesitan 1 ó 2 voluntarios para ayudar al Coordinador de Tráfico con los arreglos de viaje para todos los invitados nacionales e internacionales. Los voluntarios también ayudarán en la distribución de las películas que serán proyectadas en los diferentes teatros de la ciudad. Los voluntarios tendrán la oportunidad de trabajar “detrás del escenario”, ayudando a asegurar que toda la producción y los aspectos técnicos de las proyecciones funcionen sin problemas.

Traductores / Guías – Necesitaremos guías bilingües (Español / Inglés) durante todo el desarrollo del festival para nuestros directores, cineastas y otros invitados internacionales especiales. Los traductores tendrán la oportunidad de interactuar con cineastas internacionales mientras ayudan en la traducción de diversos eventos, tales como paneles de conversación y sesiones de preguntas y respuestas, entre otras cosas. Los traductores actuarán también como guías para los directores internacionales en Nueva York, garantizando su arribo seguro y oportuno a los eventos y demás compromisos. Los requisitos incluyen tener fluidez en ambos idiomas y poseer un buen conocimiento de la ciudad de Nueva York.

Acomodadores para Quad Cinema – Necesitamos 2 acomodadores para este teatro. Ellos coordinarán la distribución de materiales impresos del festival entre los asistentes, incluyendo el programa del festival, y la acomodación de asientos para todas las películas durante las horas en que las películas sean exhibidas. Deben ser amigables, sociables y puntuales. Ser bilingüe en Español / Inglés es deseado, pero no obligatorio. Los acomodadores son necesarios entre: 12-5pm, abril 17-23 y 5-11 pm, abril 17-23.

Acomodadores para todos los otros lugares – Se necesitan al menos 2 acomodadores por recinto en todo momento durante los eventos y proyecciones. Los acomodadores saludarán a los asistentes e invitados, distribuirán el programa del festival y otras materiales, ayudarán a gestionar las entradas compradas con anterioridad por los asistentes y proporcionarán servicio a los asistentes en general. Deben ser amigables, sociables, puntuales, y capaces de realizar varias tareas a la vez. Ser bilingüe es preferido, pero no obligatorio.
Compromiso de tiempo: Las oportunidades anteriores requieren voluntarios que estén disponibles entre el 13-24 de abril, y que puedan ayudar por un mínimo de 2 días durante el festival. Los voluntarios deben ser puntuales, fiables y flexibles de acuerdo a las responsabilidades asignadas a ellos.

Pasantías

HFFNY ha desarrollado pasantías gratificantes y emocionantes en casos individuales con estudiantes de las diversas universidades existentes en Nueva York, incluyendo Hunter College, New York University y Tisch School of the Arts de la New York University.
HFFNY está trabajando para establecer un programa de pasantías que ayudará en nuestra misión de enriquecer y ampliar la visión de la cultura latina y poder ofrecer una experiencia multicultural para nuestros alumnos en práctica, ya sea mediante la planificación y el desarrollo del festival, la comercialización y extensión comunitaria, y cualquier otro elemento que desempeñe un papel importante en el éxito del festival.
