Laura is a college professor researching the life of Alberto Yarini y Ponce de León, famous early-20th century Cuban pimp who was shot to death by French rivals that controlled the early-century prostitution industry. While attempting to bring his historical relevance to light, she enters one of Cuba’s most complex underworlds. But beneath the surface narrative, Los Dioses Rotos interweaves clashing values, becoming a reflection on the ethics and morals of a diverse cast of characters that challenge simplistic cliches of “good” and “evil”.
