Mission

The Havana Film Festival New York (HFFNY) collaborates with Havana’s International Festival of New Latin American Cinema to introduce its audience to prominent and emerging filmmakers by showcasing the latest award-winning films and classics from and about Latin America and the U.S. Latino community. HFFNY seeks to cultivate audience-artist dialogue through panel discussions designed to give a behind-the-scenes look at an industry that continues to gain global recognition. The festival program offers directors, actors and producers an opportunity to exchange ideas, enriches and expands the vision of Latino culture and provides a multi-cultural experience for a diverse audience. The Havana Film Festival New York is a project of the American Friends of the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) cultural organization building cultural bridges between the U.S. and Cuba through exchange programs in the arts.

Misión

El Havana Film Festival New York (HFFNY), en colaboración con el Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de La Habana, presenta a su audiencia a cineastas destacados y emergentes por medio de la proyección de películas clásicas y aquellas premiadas recientemente, que provienen y tratan sobre América Latina y la comunidad latina de los Estados Unidos. HFFNY busca cultivar el diálogo entre el público y los artistas a través de paneles de conversación creados para dar a los asistentes una visión de lo que ocurre detrás de las cámaras, en una industria que continúa recibiendo reconocimiento a nivel mundial. El programa del festival ofrece a directores, actores y productores una oportunidad para intercambiar ideas, enriquece y amplía la visión de la cultura Latina y ofrece una experiencia multicultural para un público diverso. El Havana Film Festival New York es un proyecto la American Friends of the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba, organización cultural sin fines de lucro 501 (c) (3) que fomenta el intercambio de ideas artísticas e información entre los Estados Unidos y Cuba para fortalecer el conocimiento social y la conciencia cultural.

Carole Rosenberg is the President of the American Friends of the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba. She is an Art Consultant and Curator, as well as a Member of the Honorary Committee for the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba; Vice President of Alex Rosenberg Fine Art; Board Member of American Friends of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.

Diana works in the publicity and promotion of cultural events in New York City, specializing in film and music festivals. She is part of the Cinema Tropical Team, an organization dedicated to distributing and promoting Latino Films in the United States, and LART (Latino Artists Round Table). An integral member of the selection and programming committees for the Havana Film Festival New York and Corto Circuito/ShortCuts Latin American Short Film Festival, she is also a producer and media liaison with the CUNY-TV series “Nueva York”. She received several international awards for series producing the documentary series “Rostros y Rastros”. As a journalist she writes for publications including Hoy (New York City), El Puente Latino and La Opinión (Los Angeles).

Diana trabaja en la publicidad y promoción de eventos culturales en la Ciudad de Nueva York, y está especializada en festivales cinematográficos y musicales. Ella forma parte del Cinema Tropical Team, organización dedicada a la distribución y promoción de películas latinas en los Estados Unidos, y de LART (Latino Artists Round Table). Miembro integral de la selección y los comités de programación del Havana Film Festival New York y de Corto Circuito / ShortCuts Latin American Short Film Festival, Diana es también productora y enlace para la serie “Nueva York” de CUNY-TV. Además ha recibido diversos premios internacionales por la producción de la serie de documental “Rostros y Rastros”. Como periodista, escribe para publicaciones como Hoy (Nueva York), El Puente Latino y La Opinión (Los Angeles).

Sarah has volunteered with HFFNY since it was founded in 2000. Prior to becoming the full-time Festival Coordinator, she worked for J.P. Morgan, developing a new department in their Buenos Aires office. Her previous experience includes teaching English as a second language, offshoring office work, and working for a travel company. She studied art history and has degrees from the University of Chicago and Northwestern University.

Sarah ha sido voluntaria del HFFNY desde su fundación en el año 2000. Antes de convertirse en Coordinadora del Festival a tiempo completo trabajó para J.P. Morgan, desarrollando un nuevo departamento en su sede en Buenos Aires. Su experiencia previa incluye la enseñanza de inglés como segunda lengua, la deslocalización de trabajo de oficina y haber trabajado para una empresa de viajes. Sarah estudió Historia del Arte y posee títulos de la University of Chicago y la Northwestern University.
