A trio of actors and theater mimes are recruited by a patron to look after a box of books, while he goes abroad for three months. Shortly thereafter, the actors find out that the patron was arrested in Madrid for money laundering. When they open the boxes to find sophisticated weapons, they’re then have to figure out how to get rid of them without running the risk of being held responsible. They soon decide to pose as repentant guerrillas handing their weapons “in exchange” for amnesty in Spain. But this daring plan puts them right in the arms of the Colombian military, paramilitary, guerrillas, and drug dealers.

Un trío de actores y mimos de teatro reciben de un supuesto mecenas teatral el encargo de guardarle unas cajas con libros mientras dura su ausencia de Colombia por tres meses. Al poco tiempo, se enteran de que su mecenas es capturado en Madrid por lavado de dólares y que será condenado a prisión. Al abrir las cajas encuentran armas. Sin saber cómo deshacerse de las mismas pues temen que si las entregan a las autoridades pueden ser encontrados culpables. Toman la decisión de simular que son guerrilleros que quieren reinsertarse. Lo único que piden a cambio del arsenal, es un salvoconducto para asilarse en España. Esta travesura los pone a enfrentar situaciones azarosas con el ejército, los paramilitares, la guerrilla y los narcotraficantes.

Born in1943, he studied Anthropology at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (1969-1972). He realizes his first feature, El escarabajo/The Beatle in 1982, followed in l985 by the feature film Visa USA. In 1987, he writes with Gabriel García Márquez, the screenplay for the film, Milagro en Roma/Miracle in Rome, produced for Televisión Española in the series, Amores dificiles/Tough Love. He writes and directs the adaptation of La vorágine/The Whirlpool in 1990 for RCN TV , for which he directs in 1991, La Maria, Gabriel García Marquez’s adaptation of the classic novel by Jorge Isaacs. From 1994-1996, Duque Naranjo takes the post of General Director of the International School of Film and Television of San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba (EICTV). He wins first prize for scriptwriting from the Ministerio de la Cultura in 1997 with the screenplay, Niños invisibles/Invisible Children. In 1999, he obtains the award for best feature script from Mincultura with his work, Los actores del conflict/The Actors of the Conflict, which he directs in 2006 as his fifth feature film.

Nacido en 1943, estudió Antropología en la Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Realizó su primer largometraje, El Escarabajo, le seguiría el largometraje Visa USA. En 1987, escribe, junto con Gabriel García Márquez, el guión de la película Milagro en Roma, producida por Televisión Española dentro de la serie Amores Difíciles. Escribió y dirigió la adaptación de La vorágine para televisión y después La Maria en una adaptación televisiva de Gabriel García Marquez de la obra homónima de Jorge Isaacs. Desde 1994 a 1996, fue director de la Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión de San Antonio de Los Baños, Cuba (EICTV). Obtuvo el primer premio en el concurso de guiones del Ministerio de la Cultura con Los niños invisibles y nuevamente por Los actores del conflicto la cual dirige en 2006 como su quinto largometraje.
