NEW CHILDREN / NEW YORK

New Children / New York is a self-told story in which a group of young Latinos in New York City discover filmmaking as a tool to make sense of and communicate the experience of growing-up a Latino immigrant in the U.S. Works include: Fitting In, The Life of Dasha, Through My Eyes, Don’t Hate the Player, Hate the Game, My Movie, Desconocido, Wrong Way, Aerosol, and the work-in-progress of New Children / New Cork documentary.

New Children / New York es una historia contada desde adentro, en la cual un grupo de jóvenes Latinos en Nueva York descubren como el lente cinematográfico les puede servir de herramienta para comunicar sus experiencias de inmigrantes latinos en Estados Unidos. La muestra incluye: Fitting In, The Life of Dasha, Through My Eyes, Don’t Hate the Player, Hate the Game, My Movie, Desconocido, Wrong Way, Aerosol y la versión en desarrollo del documental New Children / New York.

Program Directors: Gisela Sanders & Lauren Mucciolo

GISELA SANDERS (Program Directors)
Born in Mexico. She received her MFA in Media Arts Production from City College of New York, with a specialization in documentary filmmaking. Her thesis film, Yo soy Alcántara, (2004) played in major film festivals worldwide, including Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Spain, and the U.S., and it won four festival awards. She is currently employed as a Producer and Senior Editor at CUNY TV, where she produces and edits several arts and culture series. She is also currently directing the feature documentary, New Children/New York.

LAUREN MUCCIOLO (Program Directors)
Lauren Mucciolo is currently a producer for CUNY TV and has produced the multi-program series “CUNY Celebrates 350” and the nationally distributed interview programs, “Jewish Women in America,” and “Women in Theatre.” She was a Research Associate on PBS-distributed “Black Writers in America.” With director Mario Rosales she helped produce the Guatemalan-based productions “Amorfo: te busqué” (Official Selection, Huesca Film Festival) and “El Regreso de Lencho.” Lauren is presently producing the feature documentary, “New Children/New York.”

GISELA SANDERS (Program Directors)
Nació en Mexico. Recibió su MFA en Media Arts Production con una especialización en realización de documentales en el City College of New York. Su tesis de graduación, Yo soy Alcántara, (2004) se exhibió en importantes festivales a nivel mundial incluyendo Colombia, Cuba, México, España y Estados Unidos ganando cuatro premios importantes. En la actualidad trabaja como productora y Senior Editor en CUNY-TV, donde produce y edita series de arte y cultura. En la actualidad se encuentra rodando su próximo documental New Children/New York.

LAUREN MUCCIOLO (Program Directors)
Trabaja como productora para CUNY-TV para la cual ha producido la serie CUNY Celebrates 350 y el programa de entrevistas con distribución nacional Jewish Women in America y Women in Theatre. Fue Investigadora Asociada para la serie de PBS “Black Writers in America” y productora de los filmes guatelmantecos Amorfo: te busqué de Mario Rosales (Selección oficial en Huesca Film Festival) y también El Regreso de Lencho. Lauren se encuentra en proceso de rodaje del documental New Children/New York.
