JUANITO BAJO EL NARANJO / JUANITO UNDER THE ORANGE THREE - NY Premiere
Juanito was innocent to the existence of war until one of his friends tells him about “The Others” and the atrocities they’re capable of committing. That same day Juanito’s father brings home oranges for his wife who’s pregnancy has given her an appetite for them. Since oranges are difficult to come by, these are off limits to the other family members. Juanito is lured by their scent and breaks the rule, eating one of the oranges with seeds and all. Juanito’s fears merge and soon after become realities. Orange branches begin to grow from his ears, and “The Others” soon arrive in the town and take all of the men away. It is time for his orange branches to become less of a problem and more of a source of nutrition for his family.
Al principio la guerra es algo que no existe hasta que uno de los amigos de Juanito le relata quienes son “Ellos” y las atrocidades que son capaces de cometer. Ese día el padre lleva unas naranjas a la madre que está embarazada y tiene un antojo, las naranjas han sido muy difíciles de conseguir por lo tanto los demás miembros de la familia deben abstenerse de comerlas. Juanito transgrede esa prohibición: come una de las naranjas, incluidas las semillas. A partir de este momento los dos miedos de Juanito se juntan y hacen realidad. No sólo le salen ramas por las orejas sino que al pueblo llegan “ellos” y se llevan a todos los hombre. Es el momento en que sus ramas de naranjo dejan de ser un problema para convertirse en una fuente de nutrición.
